Executive Chef Jared Lordon
As the newly appointed Executive Chef of the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh South, and its restaurant, Gather, Chef Jared Lordon brings with him almost 20 years of culinary experience to the South Hills most recognized hotel.
Growing up in the neighborhood of Whitehall just a few miles down the road, Chef Jared knew at an early age food is where his heart was, and jumped right in to begin his climb up the ranks when he landed a position at Primanti Bros. After returning to school to receive his BA in History from California University of Pennsylvania, Jared also received his culinary degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Academy of Culinary Arts. While at IUP, Lordon received an externship at the prestigious Omni Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina where he cut his teeth and began learning from Executive Chef, Mike Espey.
Having moved up to Sous Chef within two years at the resort, Lordon knew it was time to return home. Wanting to expand upon his knowledge and learn new techniques and cuisines, he built his resume up by working at Morton’s of Chicago, Mantini’s Wood-Fired and Nola on the Square before opening his own restaurant, Allegheny City Smokehouse where he smoked and cured his own meats using new and traditional methods of cooking over a live fire. Most recently, Lordon was Executive Chef of Social at Bakery Square where he managed all aspects of the restaurants food and beverage operation.
Gather will showcase Chef Lordon’s emphasis on freshness and quality classic American cuisine, with a touch of Southern flair with favorites such as Steak Frites, BBQ Shrimp and Grits and his favorite sandwich, the Cuban.
